Tuxedo Junction Big Band (TJBB) is heralded as the "Best Big Band" in the Inland Empire. This fantastic band is made up of an all-star cast of musicians and vocalists from the Coeur d'Alene - Spokane areas. Its music ranges from the golden era of the Big Bands to the new standards of today. Everything from Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Duke Ellington to waltzes, Latin, and more allows the sound of this Big Band to be a thrill for all. Their sound consists of strong soloists and solid ensemble playing making this a truly entertaining experience.

TJBB has gotten rave reviews by providing audiences with sounds and entertainment that can easily be proclaimed as "exciting". Playing the extremes from luscious ballads to full sounding shout choruses to delicate shuffle music, TJBB captures its audience and takes it on an unforgettable ride.

The foundation of the band's repertoire is based firmly in the classic swing era of the 1930s and 1940s with all those golden hits, but the band also performs a wide variety of music from the 1950s through today that continue the tradition of the stirring, full-bodied sounds of the big bands.

Ruth ( “Dr. Ruth” to her friends ) has been entertaining in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area since her arrival here in 2002. She has an extensive performance background which includes musical theatre, light opera, and jazz vocals. She specializes in music from the Big Band Era and the Great America Songbook. Ruth recently completed a series of concerts she refers to as her "Dead Diva" series presenting programs based on the lives of popular vocalists such as Jo Stafford, Peggy Lee, Rosemary Clooney and Judy Garland. Ruth is the Executive Director of the Coeur d'Alene Public Library Foundation and serves on numerous nonprofit boards in the community.

Craig Catlett, Director

After a 25 year musical dry spell, Craig picked up his sax again began performing
with and directing with various local music groups, including the SFCC Jazz Ensemble, and Men of Rhythm Big Band. Craig currently teaches private music lessons and performs with several professional ensembles including The Basement Jazz Quartet, 5MOR , and Nobody Famous. He is thrilled to now be a part of the Tuxedo Junction Big Band organization, bringing with him a depth of directing and performance talent.
